5 Tips for Boosting Your eCommerce Profits with Social Media

Running an eCommerce business is all about getting your product seen and spreading word-of-mouth. Since eCommerce is all done online, it only makes sense that your marketing and advertising should be done online as well; however, this is often more difficult than it sounds.

So, how do you maximize the social media around you to get the most out of your eCommerce business? Today, it seems as if teenagers and adults in their mid-twenties have got the edge on social media, but by following a few tips, you too can easily get a better understanding of social media and use it to your own advantage.

1. Choose Your Platforms
There are tons of different social media platforms out there, therefore, this step can become a bit overwhelming. The question is:  do you use them all or pick just one?
As a first step, you should take it easy and use one, and as you become more comfortable, you can then add the rest of your social media repertoire.

As a business, you will ideally want to be using the most popular platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Pinterest, but it’s not a requirement to use them all, as the platforms you choose will depend on how effectively you can utilize them to further market your business.

Start getting a feel for how each of them will work for your business and go from there.

2. Target Your Audience
Based on your product, you probably know who you want your target audience to be. From there, it becomes easier to shape your social media networking. Knowing what kind of audience uses each form of social media can provide you with a huge advantage.

A common misassumption is that only young people are using social media. This, however, is not true at all! In fact, more and more people, who are well into their 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s, are becoming actively involved in social media. Don’t limit yourself to only targeting a younger crowd– this will only hinder sales.

3. Optimize Online Content
This relates to SEO (search engine optimization). Pick out keywords that you think people will be most likely to search for when it comes to your product. Then, get these keywords ranked through an SEO program, such as Google Adwords.

Using SEO in combination with compelling content can increase your sales rapidly– you may even surprised at how quickly this can make a difference in your ecommerce business.

4. Offer Discounts
Use discounts to get customers excited about buying your product. These discounts and special promotions can be easily accessed through your social media networking, and are what encourage people to keep coming back for more.

This is also a good way to reward your more loyal customers. For those who are dedicated to your ecommerce, give them more perks!

5. Start Blogging
Blogging is another great way to use social media to its fullest capacity. Your blog is a space to connect with your audience, so you want to make sure you have the right web host and are getting the type of exposure you need.

In addition, make sure to use exciting blog titles and continually update with intriguing content so that people will follow your blog.

By optimizing your content and posting updates and news about your products and/or services, you will certainly be able to generate interest and attract more customers to your site. Furthermore, sharing these posts and updates via social media will give your business that extra push it needs.

If you’re not already using social media, you definitely need to take the time to start using it to your advantage– the amount of business you will draw in will surprise you!
